School Bus Driver Training Classes
In-Person Prohibited; Virtual Refresher Allowed
All regions of Illinois are now subject to Tier 3 Resurgence Mitigations, which prohibit indoor venues and meeting spaces from hosting gatherings of any size. Regional Offices of Education (ROEs) and Intermediate Service Centers (ISCs) may not conduct refresher or initial school bus driver training classes in-person during this time. However, live virtual instruction is permitted for refresher training but not for initial training. Instructors must validate all participant attendance before and after each class in lieu of the traditional sign-in sheet for certification to their respective ROE or ISC. As a reminder, all classes must be scheduled within IWAS prior to the date of the class in order to print the sign-in roster for the instructor to use.
If you have classes entered in IWAS that were not held, please email a list to Mike Stier at mstier@isbe.net and they will be deleted from IWAS. Please include the type of class, date, location, ROE number, and the name of the instructor who is assigned to the class to make sure that the correct class is deleted.
