 Out Of State Colleges and Universities

  • ​Out of state institutional representatives interested in more information on Illinois licensure and endorsement requirements should send an email to Preparation@isbe.net and a representative will follow up with you as soon as possible.
    • Educators should NOT utilize this email address for inquiries and should instead contact their local Regional Office of Education​ for their specific licensure​ questions and requests.

Program Review Process

All preparation proposals shall follow the process below. Proposals that do not obtain initial approval may undergo a truncated version of this process as determined by the agency.

  • Institution sends program proposal to ISBE
  • *Initial Review (2-4 Weeks)
  • Review submitted to institution
  • Institution sends updated proposal to ISBE
  • Subsequent review and follow up (up to 2 weeks)
  • Final proposal submitted to SEPLB
  1. *Peer Review is mandatory for Principal and Superintendent programs.
  2. *Peer Review is optional for Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Middle Grades, Secondary, and Alternative programs.
  3. *Agency staff will review all proposals.
